Pakistan
JMA money has been sent to the Church of Pakistan to help with its work in the earthquake region. Many children and adults are still living in large, temporary tent villages and continue to need our prayer and support. The Diocese of Raiwind has been given an enormous opportunity by the government of this Muslim country and Bishop Sammy Azariah has asked partners for help to take full advantage of it.
A piece of land has been made available, and the Church has been asked to provide a ‘basic health unit’ (a hospital).
JMA has accepted a challenge to raise £15,000, can you help with this?
Money can be sent through the usual JMA channels to the Methodist Church Fund for World Mission. If you can let us know that you intend the money for this particular project we can keep track of how we are doing. If you need further information on how to send money through JMA then e-mail children@methodistchurch.org.uk or send any cheques to us (MCH, 25 Marylebone Road, London, NW1 5JR) made payable to M.C.F.W.M clearly marked for the Pakistan appeal.

It’s hard work for everyone, whatever your age.

But sometimes the days are long.

Everyone needs to be kept safe. There have been 1,500 smaller earth tremors since the big earthquake in October.

The army in Pakistan has organised the relief effort very effectively here.

Aid is getting through and being well used, but so much more is needed.

Pakistan is a beautiful country. The earthquake region is in the mountainous north and it has been a very cold winter, they even had to put up tents to shelter the animals.

Houses destroyed by the earthquake have to be broken into pieces and the ground cleared so that new houses can be built.

Many children are living in very large towns of tents – very different from the tiny villages they are used to.

You can easily feel very lost and alone when you have lost everything and are moved to a new place.

When you create a temporary tent village you need to pipe in water if everyone is to stay healthy.

The washing still has to be done!

Wood is needed so that fires can be lit to cook the food.
